When having a fall wedding, there are generally two different routes that you can explore – having a rustic and traditional event or throwing a modern and glamorous affair. One is not better than the other and both can provide wonderful atmospheres for any wedding. By simply laying the perfect touches and taking care of every detail, your wedding, whether it be rustic or glamorous, is sure to be an event that you and your guests will still be talking about on your 50th anniversary!

Rustic weddings generally consist of things such as pumpkins, gourds, and sheaths of wheat or corn for display. These decoration items play perfectly against a color scheme of bright yellows, deep reds, and oranges. Browns are also very popular in fall color schemes, but they should always be paired with a lighter color such as a pale gold to help offset the dark colors. Fall flowers such as daisies, sunflowers, chrysanthemums, and baby’s breath will all look beautiful in bridal bouquets while items such as fall leaves can be used as centerpieces. A rustic fall wedding will generally contain a very hearty dinner course, such as roast beef, turkey, or pork loin. The easiest thing about planning this type of wedding is that the palette of colors and tastes that the season provides make every aspect of wedding planning easier!

However, just because your wedding is in the fall doesn’t mean that you need to surround yourself with pumpkins, yellows, and other aspects of the season. Generally, a modern fall wedding is a more sophisticated and formal affair. Color schemes for these type of weddings may include silvers, blues, and purples. A wonderful way to still incorporate traditional colors, such as brown, is to pair them with a cool pastel color, such as pink or blue. Flowers for glamorous fall weddings generally include flowers with a sophisticated look, such as roses or lilies and these can be used for bridal bouquets and centerpieces. A menu offering things such as salmon, duck, or prime rib can help to bring a formal affair altogether and make it a glamorous evening no one will soon forget!

Whether you decide on a rustic or glamorous theme for your fall wedding, it’s important to consider the theme in every detail and use your imagination to let the theme shine through!

Once you have decided to have an autumn wedding, you will begin incorporating all types of fall items and ideas to have as part of your wedding. One very important area that needs to be focused on is the boutonnieres and tuxedos that the groom and the groomsmen will be wearing. Dark grey tuxedos can also be a warm reminiscent of the earth’s tones and can also bring a consistent feel with weather that is quite cool.

Boutonnieres are always an area where wedding planners can get carried away and autumn brings so many ideas and options, that the only problem you’ll have is deciding! Give your groom and groomsmen deep roses or single lilies to wear in their lapels and this instantly provides a sophisticated and stylish look. However, you can also use things such as clusters of cranberries on single stems or get boutonnieres that contain flowers such as wild bull thistle or pale blue forget-me-nots. Pale blues are often used in fall color schemes and boutonnieres with accents of this wildflower will look truly outstanding! Also be sure to give your boutonnieres lots of greenery or wrap the stems up with stiff twigs that can lay along the edges of the arrangement, for a truly unique look!

There are so many options for the perfect fall boutonniere and tuxedo, that just like every other aspect of your fall wedding, the only problem you will have is deciding! Whichever type of event your having, it’s important to remember that single flowers generally indicate a formal affair, while groups of flowers, twigs, or greenery would be more appropriate for a casual wedding.

There’s no doubt that once you plan to hold your wedding in the fall, just about every option for color schemes will include deep oranges, yellows, and golds. But not every bride wants their wedding to look like the pilgrim’s first feast and instead, want great color schemes that will reflect not only the season, but their own personalities and tastes. Modern fall color schemes are beginning to detour away from the traditional colors of fall and replace them with colors that still remind us of earth’s beauty but place a contemporary twist to give it a classy and chic feel.

Incorporating green into your color scheme is a wonderful throwback to fall and keeps in tone with the season. Instead of dark greens, opt for not-yet-ripe green acorns for table décor or wrap the table napkins in green vines. Place green grapes in horns of plenty and use them as centerpieces, this is a truly refreshing twist on traditional fall centerpieces that so often use pumpkins or gourds. When thinking of ways to use green, don’t limit yourself to just deep greens – trying olive green or sage is another wonderfully modern way to add even more twists on the traditional!

Of course, some people choose to have their wedding in the fall precisely because they love the traditional reds, oranges, and yellows. These traditional colors can also be used and played up to offer more of a modern look. Instead of using the brightest reds and yellows you can find, opt for deep shades of burgundy and golds. Pairing these with a simple color such as black or ivory can be a great way to stay true to the season of harvest and still have a unique wedding that your guests will be talking about for years to come!

Whether you decide to use modern or traditional color schemes for your fall wedding will depend entirely on what you like and what you want your wedding to say about you. However, always keep in mind that there’s no rule that says which color scheme you need to use for your fall wedding.
